SuMmer Solstice

I have been wanting to have a Summer Solstice party since reading about this one on a blog I love called Domestice Reflections. Summer solstice in the longest day of the year, with the sun setting at it's most northern point. I thought it was later in the summer, but over the weekend, someone mentioned it was this week (yesterday), I knew it was time to throw a real back yard party.

There are still a bunch of projects that I'm working on in the yard, but the majority of it is done. It was so fun to see all the little details come together. The stainless steel pole sleeves I put all over the yard before the sod was in, were perfect. I got the poles cut on monday that went in them and them Craig helped me tie our christmas lights from the deck to the poles (zip ties are something we go through A LOT of around here.)

Yesterday was really hot (83') and the pool got up to 90'. my perfect pool temp. I love that it was so warm because almost everyone got in the pool. We had about 12 adults and 14 kids. After we all swam, we fed the kids around the fire, then turned on a movie for the little bops so we could sit and enjoy dinner. We had arugula + watermelon salad, summer spaghetti, roasted zuchinni, and bread.
the pasta was Ina Garten's recipe. I've made it before and I always love it. I forgot to get angel hair pasta, so we had it with costco's whole wheat spaghetti instead.

and we topped it all of eating blueberry pie and icecream around the fire. I will never get sick of fresh blueberry pie.
