the lake

I would be sad if august came to an end and I didn't get some of our pictures from lake winni sorted through and write about some of my favorite occurances. the week we spend with the Craig's whole family at the lake is definitely one of our favorite weeks of the year. Parker has been talking about going to "lake saukee" at least once a day since january. When asked, he said he would rather go to "lake saukee" than have Christmas. Cousins, water, sand, and Mamie and Papa......what more could a little boy ask for?

Trip to Town

Craig and I have a few traditions we do with just our little family each year. Taking the boat to town to get cookies at the Yum Yum Shop is my favorite one.

Watermelon Eating Contest

Chloe won. (this was one of the events in the Kid Olympics). :)

 Water skiing craze
You can't really tell from this pic, but parker was beaming.
Thanks to Papa's endless patience with the grandkids, I think that every kid over 3 got up on some sort of skis. Mitt must of spent at least 5 hrs a day behind the wheel of the boat teaching kids of every age to water ski and then driving at 5 miles per hr forever since once they got up, they never wanted their turn to end ( I couldn't figure out if this was because they were scared to sink into the water or because of the joy of being up.) He and Ann also spent weeks before the vacation figuring out all the right gear......extra life vests, the right size skies, etc. Oh, the logistics of it all! 28 people, including 16 kids, is a lot of people to prepare for!

And his trusty co-captain, Mamie. Always ready
with a towel and words of praise for the skiers.

Out takes
On our first night there, we had a big family picture. Since it is one of the only times my boys (and everyone really) are wearing something besides just a swim suit, (and the lighting was perfect) I love these pictures-taken by a few different sister-in-laws.

boy cousins! there are just so many of them.....12 boys and 4 girls.....

 ......making princess soliel extra special.

 Old Country Store
on the north side of the lake, there is a store that is 100 years old that great things like rubber snakes, sling shots and penny candy. Parker HAD to go so I made the trek there with him and M (it's about 30 mins away).

Kiddie Talent Show!!

the cowboy and the indian-getting ready for the play

 the battle-thankfully everyone lived
the audience

I'm not sure what, but it's apparent that some big injustice just occurred

Cousin chloe will always save the day (notice his left over mohawk in these pics).

So long till next year Lake winni. We'll be thinking of you!
