craig's pallet wall

 This is a cool project that Craig did in his man cave/office a few months ago while I was gone in Phoenix. I think he got the original idea from Todd and Brittany, then-this is my favorite part--looked it up on some blogs!! to get a better idea. THIS is one of the ones he looked at.

He got the pallets under the "free" section of Craig's list. Then instead of prying the planks apart, which would have been time consuming and could have damage the wood, he used a saws- all to just cut through the nails between the boards. The best part about this- I think- is the look of the old nail heads showing on the wall. He just used a nail gun with tiny pinheads to nail them to the wall.

I realize these are all horrible pictures, but can you tell that he and Todd also put in new can lighting on the ceiling? and a cut-out in the wall that goes into dead space behind it to use as a space for all the TV equipment stuff?

 He recently added this little door to hide it. I love how it turned out and I love all the pallet projects I keep seeing around.

in recent happenings.....4 of 5 of the Romney boys, plus mitt & Ann have been in San Diego. In addition to lots of beach time, Craig and I went to a campaign event on Saturday morning (sans kiddos). It was pretty nice to actually get to listen to Mitt speak as opposed to trying to keep a toddler entertained and quiet. Mitt is sounding solid and has me sold. :)I also went shopping with Ann and the sister-in-laws and then we all had take-out at the beach house. Take-out for 25 anyone?

Today everyone came up for Sunday dinner and I loved having everyone here all day. Parker and Miles are in heaven when in the middle of thwarts of cousins. some of their highlights today including picking things from the garden and making "salad", waterballoons, and I little nature walk to the dam that Craig and boys built. I sewed skirts with the girlies, the guys vegged out all afternoon. Miles went to bed talking about Mamie and Papa and "what should we do with them tomorrow?"

Parker starts KINDERGARTEN later this week. Crazy! not sure I am ready for this. Looking ahead to that, we had Family Home Evening tonight then Craig gave Parker a Father's Blessing. I have very vivid memories of my dad giving us all father's blessings in the days before the start of a new school year. It always gave me a sense of self and of peace and I am so grateful for Craig doing this and giving Parker a chance to feel these same feelings.

I'm so excited for Parker and for all the new experiences that are ahead of him, but man....am i gonna miss him!
