while I was home last week, we did a little bedroom makeover on one of the bedrooms in my parents basement. It has been home to 2 or 3 of my brothers over the last 15 years and it was due for a change since only Bex lives at home now and since 4 of the siblings are married so we needed more guest rooms for visits. I have a before picture, but it's on my hard drive (because it's from the last time I painted the room-about 5 years ago) and I'm too lazy to find it. Picture teenage boy....dark blue walls, Phoenix suns posters, about 100 pinewood derby cars, dried up boutineers and a hodge podge of furniture.

My mom and Bekah did most of the work before I got there. They cleaned everything, got rid of the old furniture and got a pretty antique dresser. I even had Bekah and my dad paint the room the week before (i picked the color for them...Light French Gray from Behr @50%). My mom had a book case built-in for her Lankmark books-one of her many book collections- and she bought a queen mattress. Something pretty funny about this room is that there are about 240 huge cans of food storage under the bed in place of a boxspring. All things that they canned at the cannery.....dried carrots, flour, dried milk, rice, beans, etc. I put down a thin board and bedskirt on top of the cans before I put on the mattress and you can't even tell (even after I sleep down there all week I couldn't tell a boxpring was missing).

Lizzy sewed the adorable lavendar pillows at home the week before and I sewed a curtain and got the headboard decal-just a big sticker...I'm kinda in love with it and think it makes the room---so perfect for a small space. My mom got cozy sheets and pillows and i added the light weight quilt and Ta Da! a sweet little guest room.

Going along with home decor...i have been surfing the web looking for things for our house (and I'm also keeping an eye out for about 5 other people's houses that I've been helping with a little design). Here's a couple things on sale right now....

 -from anthro-
 doorknob $9.50

 pull $2.50

 -from urban-
fainting sofa $580 (not on sale, but i love it-we had it in red in NY)

5' round rug $60

these tuxedo quilts are a STEAL at $19.99...the white one is the one i used above.

I think I could probably do design and room makeovers all day for the rest of my life and be happy.
