yesterday, Ann and i went on a Garden tour around La Jolla. Every spring the La Jolla Historical Society picks 6 homes to be on the tour. All of them were amazing in their own way. Some were quaint little houses with the prettiest yards you've every seen. One of the houses was on La Jolla Farm Rd., up above Blacks Beach. It was like the Hearst Castle of San Diego. 7 acres of land up on a cliff over looking the ocean. Craig, Mitt and the boys met us there which was perfect since there was an entire children's village on the property. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen. There was a castle in the middle, surrounded by a boxwood hedge maze. Once you made it through the maze, you could enter the castle, climb the stairs, and come down this huge slide. So cool. Then there were 3 mini "houses" that had every little detail covered. There was a mini porcelain toilet that actually worked. The best part was a the garden gnome crouch in one of the houses. The real house was 4 villas, all kinda connected. Bono stayed their last month and the clintons vacation there as well. Fun stuff.
Because we've been eating and breathing landscaping lately, I loved walking through every yard studying what type of roses they used, what kind of patio furniture everyone had and how they got their vines to crawl.
I can't wait for our landscape to mature. But boy am I loving having a yard!
