 Doesn't she look amazing?

The weekend before last we headed to Phoenix to celebrate my Grandma's 80th birthday. My parents beautiful yard served as the perfect backdrop for her birthday dinner--a mexican food feast and ginger cake with lemon frosting with just family--all per her request. She's obsessed with penguins (and black and white, thus all the black decor) and so my brother got a paublo the penguin pinita which was a huge hit with all the cousins. And grandma was such a good sport, letting us murder a penguin all in the name of her birthday and even joined in on the fun. I made her a 12x12 shutterfly book with a bunch of old pictures I scanned of us with her when we were little and my dad and her when he was a baby. It had a list of 80 reasons we love her...I gather 10 or so from all my family. (This is such a great gift for grandparents. I copied this from Laurie-she's done for everyone on their 60th or whatever it is).

My kids LOVE being at "Grandma's House" and can't wait to go back. They had so much fun finding the eggs from the chickens every morning, though Miles would never let us cook his. He would just carry a raw egg around all day....in the toy room, down to the basement...he would just set it on his plate at meal time. pretty funny (and a little scary).

We also got to see some good friends while home. The Gomez' came for Sunday dinner (and brought dinner with them!) and we got to see Scott and Kirby and introduce their new baby Beckett, to the world of potato guns (or what ever it is they have going on in this picture-sure looks safe to me. ha!)
