the day I knew it was spring

{The boys and I went to play at the beach and visit Mamie the day after we got home from Mexico and she sent me home with armfuls of roses. I counted them when I got home-63. There was still plenty left for the girls to pick when Craig and I took the 6 kids to stay in La Jolla a few days later.}

It is almost ridiculous how amazing the weather is here. It's just as good as everyone from here says. I always thought they were exaggerating.  Because it has been sunny and 72 for the last 6 months, I wasn't sure when it went from winter to summer. The biggest difference was way more flowers than usual everywhere you look.

I was worried that I wouldn't fully appreciate the weather here without suffering through cold winter months (or blazing hot summers). Not true. You know that feeling when you walk outside on the first truly warm spring day after a freezing winter and you just feel so happy to be alive and so grateful for the sun? I still feel that everyday. I think it's helped that we spent some time living on the east coast and knowing the opposite feeling of dreading going out the door each day.

It's kinda like the feeling of thankfulness and joy every time I walk into the garage and look at all that space -after spending years with our tools, paint, light bulbs, extension cords and a whole lot more in a cupboard above the fridge labeled "garage".
