We spent two weeks in Hawaii. The first week we were with some of craig's family on Maui. His dad rented some condos on a beach in Makena. (one of which he and ann gave up to us half way thru their trip, moving to a hotel down the street so we could be close to the beach and have space for our crew). We didn't originally plan to go. We have twin babies. They are hard. Really hard when you move them out of our super baby friendly home. But my bigs make up half of my children and I decided when the babies were born that I couldn't take a year or two off of life because my boys still needed me to shape their life and be their mom- whether this means making dinner or going to Hawaii (I am NOT complaining about going to Hawaii- it was awesome. It was also just a LOT of effort. Well worth it to see my boys have the time of their lives with their cousins.)

These two...one of my best survival techniques was taking them on long walks. Craig took them at least once a day. We two babies, it's hard to find things to do that keep them both happy/safe at the same time.
Someone Josh works with arranged for a sailboat whale watching ride. It was the highlight of the week for me. The boat and the ocean were both gorgeous and we got to see a baby whale with it's mom, copying her tricks over and over. amazing.

I love that craig always looks cool- even with a baby strapped to him...which is most the time lately.
this picture can't capture what was the helm of the boat. It stuck out over the ocean and in the rolling waves, it felt like you may get swallowed on the next roll.
My other highlights from the week:
-the sheer green cliffs on the road to Hana with views of waterfalls at every turn
-the best shave ice in the world that craig found on yelp
-the joy that radiated off my kids all week while getting to play with their cousins for 12 straight hours a day
-walking thru the paths at our condos with all the birds and plants and flowers- feels like a rain forest
-my morning runs i managed every other day or so....the PERFECT weather, the beach views...it just made me so happy
-my twins sleeping like champs in 2 mini pack and plays shoved in 2 different tiny closets
-hot tub chats with nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws and mitt and ann
-Lulu lemon shopping with ann and the girls
-swimming in a warm ocean- I can think of very few things on earth that I enjoy more
I am SO glad we went, so thankful for wonderful family, and so thankful to Mitt and Ann for making it all possible.
(from Maui, just Craig and I and our kids flew to Oahu to stay one more week. Those iphone pics I posted before were from there. I have about a hundred more pictures I loved from Oahu so maybe I'll have to do one more hawaii post :) ...and Christmas!! coming soon!
