SURPRISE

*below are the photos and the email that we sent out from the hospital about 12 hours after we had our twins, 3 weeks ago. I can hardly believe that it's already been 3 weeks. They are still so tiny and perfect and I have loved every second of having them in our life. I have already taken WAY too many photos of them so I'll have to start posting them here. I just don't want this tiny newborn phase to ever end and I'm hoping all the photos (and writing about them) will help drag it out.

a few thoughts on the email below..... Craig typed it with me more or less dictacting, sitting side by side in my hospital bed. (we put together the recipient list the night before after my epidural while we were waiting for the babies to come). I was burping one baby, while another lay in my lap and our 2 boys played/argued over their new toys-presents "from" the new babies.We didn't want to call anyone (besides our parents) or send out this email until we had told our boys about the twins- we wanted them to be the first to know. The shock of hearing they had 2 new siblings wore off in about 15 minutes so they could focus on who was what guy in the Star Wars Angry Birds BOARD game they had just opened and miles had been asking for since before Christmas (took me that long to figure out what he was talking about and find it).

If I had been the one typing, there would have been about 100 more exclamation points and it would have been much longer. Craig kept about 1 of 3 sentences I said. :) The main thing is, you are supposed to blame Craig if you are upset that you were lied to because it was his idea and he really kept pushing for the surprise. Half of the people we know said, "I'm never trusting anything you say again." and the other half said, "if i ever have a secret i'm telling you because this was the best kept secret ever!" Pretty funny.

we are very excited to tell you that we had a .....

....boy

....

... and a girl!

we had twins! we, of course, knew it was twins but kept it a secret, even from our own mothers (sorry again moms). we were THRILLED when we found out that it was twins, but so nervous that something would happen to one of them so we didn't say anything at first. then when i was far enough along, craig thought it would be fun to keep it a secret, so we did. 

they were born on valentine's day at 12:24am and 12:28am. Eleanor ("Ellie" or "Nora" - we don't know which yet) was born first and weighed in at 6lb 5 oz. Winston ("Winn") came out two pushes later (thankfully no c-section) and weighed 5lb 11oz. mom and babies are doing great. we wanted to wait until we told the boys today to tell everyone else. take a look at the shock on their faces when we broke the news.

pps, anyone that knows we got a minivan (we got an odyssey in jan) should have expected something. this is the only scenario under which i would drive one.
