Miles and Parker- August 2008 (more "brothers" pics here)
Nov. 2011
My boys are growing up WAY too fast. Within a week we will add a new baby to our family and I CAN not wait -nor can i wait to not be pregnant anymore. I am so excited for what lies ahead for our family in the coming months and there is only one thing that I'm not looking forward to...... Miles not being my baby anymore and parker to turn into the big, big brother. I will never forget my feelings the first time I saw parker after giving birth to miles. He came walking into my hospital room and it seemed as if he had ages 5 years. Two days before he had been my baby, my little buddy that did eveything with me. In a split second it felt as if my entire universe had shifted (which it had by welcoming a new little baby), but I was definitely not prepared for the way that I immediately felt differently about parker. I didn't love him any less- just differently. And i looked at him differently- partially as a physical threat to my new, tiny, perfect newborn. (Despite what the top picture shows, he has from the beginning, been the BEST big brother-- challenged for that title only by maybe David- my older brother).
So this time I know what's coming. I know that very shortly miles won't be my baby anymore-he is very very happy about this because I tell him daily he is my baby for now.("MoOoOoOoOm....Panchie is the baby. member??").
THere hasn't been a stage of their life that I have wanted to end. From the second that they were born I have wanted to stop time and keep them the size they are on that day. I feel the same way today. Parker- my sweet, sweet boy that is so kind, and happy and obedient. And miles. oh miles. Happy with a side of attitude. The last 2 nights around 7pm when he started to feel a little sleepy asked, " mama? can we just go get cozy in your bed and snuggle?" anytime bud. Anytime.
Since I can't keep them from growing, I feel like all I can do is breathe them in deeply every chance I get and attempt to record the memories we are making together.
In that spirit, here's some funny quotes/conversations from the boys I've been writing down over the past few months...
Parker......
"but wait. where did the first fruit trees come from to make fruit to get the seeds to get grow need trees?"
"heavenly Father created them"-me
"oh yeah."

a few weeks ago we watched the sun set out the kitchen window at dinner time. The next morning we were all up way to early and i was on the floor playing legos with Parker and Miles around 6am when the sun was about to come up. We all watched it peek up over the mountains out of parkers window which is on the oppisite side of the house. Parker looked at me and said, "wait. does the sun go around the whole earth while we sleep each night?" so close. He amazes me daily with his intrigue and his desire to learn more. Lucky for us he has a globe in his room and I was able to show him how it really works.

Parker has never cared what he wears. I could pick his outfit every single day of his life and he would never say a word. Usually he just grabs whats on top in his drawers. But every so often he gets a VERY specific idea for something he wants to wear...about once every 3 months. One time during the summer he had an idea that he needed to wear his swimsuit, a t-shirt and an open, short sleeve button up shirt over the t-shirt to the beach. He never got in the water.....just sported his outfit at the beach.
Tonight on the way home from a Early Thanksgiving dinner Watd Party at the church, he had another outfit idea. He said, "mom. can you get me black jeans, a black short sleeve shirt (tshirt), white shoes-oh wait i have them already (white converse) and a black hat?......not like a baseball hat, but like......the one Abe lincoln wears. but not that tall." (he was talking a fedora). "and can you get me a smoker? i won't light it. Wait..... Is it still bad to have a smoker if i just have it pretend in my mouth and i don't light it?" (he was talking a cigerette). Oh boy. I showed him a picture of James Dean when we got home and he couldn't believe this guy had stole his look. He asked if he could wear it all to school. Oh boy.

these are 2 words that came up in november that he asked us to explain to him.
de ja vu and chemicals
Chemicals is harder than you think to explain to a 6 year old.
Miles....
First of all- he says a ton of words just barely off. I never correct him because he's already growing up too quick.
A-hind=behind
A-fore= before
(we were riding in the car with a friend the other day and she saw a hot air balloon and said that she'd love to ride in one one day. miles gave a little shrug and said, "i've done that afore". As if he did it in his younger years...not a month ago)
which brings us to another favorite phrase..."member mom a long long time ago when...." it almost always is in reference to something that happened the day before.
He also can not say any word that has a FL in it. So we of course ask him to say these words for us all the time...
Netflix= "netslix"
flips= "slips"
A few days ago he was feeling the baby move all around (both him and parker have more patience sitting there and feeling movement than Craig I think :) - they put stuff on my belly to try to see if the baby can kick it off). Anyhow, he was feeling the baby move like crazy and I said, " I think the baby wants to come out and play with you." He immediately said, " No. It just wants to get out and get some AIR!" as if i've been suffocating the baby this whole time.
