Halloween 2012- we were there!

Sometime in September craig said he needed to tell the campaign any days he needed off between then and Nov. 6th. I wisely said, "Halloween" since at that point the boys had already decided on costumes for the whole family and I had already got the Luigi and Mario costumes at DI. (I got their hats and gloves on Amazon, I got the fabric for my costume and sewed it in 45 mins with jemimh in NY when i went the beginning of October, (i copied the dress from the picture below- i took of a costume package) and Miles' costume was purchased at Party City by craig during the 1/2 hr were we home between a long beach day and leaving for trunk-or-treat at the church. It was the saturday before Halloween and we lucked out having craig in town that day. I literally wouldn't walk 2 steps around at trunk-or-treat without my whole family with me for fear that people wouldn't know who i was supposed to be and mistake for just a fat pink princess.

Sunday after church we had a husband-less laurie and kids over for dinner and pumpkin carving.

Craig was gone monday and Tuesday...I joined him on Tuesday for what was one of my top 3 experiences throughout this campaign- a fundraiser at George and Barabra Bush's house in Houston.
They were as lovely as could be. the event was small, just 55 people, and the bushes had us arrive early so we could chat for a bit. President Bush and Craig both spoke for a bit- it was one of my favorite little speeches I've heard craig give and I wish I recorded him speaking just once- and then we flew out. San Diego to Houston and back in one day. I knew I had to be back to get Parker ready for the halloween party at school first thing Halloween morning. Craig ended up coming and volunteering that morning with me and Miles, who thinks he is in Parker's class, was of course there (all the kids in the class know Miles name from the days I volunteer and they are all SO nice to him).

Can you tell that craig was helping out at the "mummy" station?

On the night of Halloween, I sewed/glued up a little Yoshi costume for pancho while craig put the kids in costumes for the Neighborhood halloween party. He was not a fan of wearing his costume.

and somewhere in there I had a little welcome back/ Halloween dinner party for sissy and jason who were in san diego visiting us all from UT.
My boys love a good party. I told them all day it was just adults and that they were going to bed around the time it started. But then I of course let them stay up for a bit and even did witches brew. Two times during the evening, Parker gave me huge hugs randomly and said, "thanks SO much for letting us stay up!"
(On my post about our end of summer bash, I completely forgot to write about Parker and Miles and how they acted like party was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to them. In the days leading up to it, they helped me hang extra lights across the yard, buy sprinkles and put them in bowls, and set up chairs. when the food truck pulled up they climbed right in it to check it all out. And when the musician started-man, it was all over. Heaven. they gave him the most request all night long- miles of course requested "we are young" and they danced and sang there hearts out all night long and ate their way through more than their share of ice cream. Every time i would catch a glimpse of them throughout the night, I would feel so validated for any effort I put into the party. I have definitely trained them to like a good ole party.)

You really need to appreciate the amazing paper doll costume worn by Erica that she bought from Pottery Barn kids.
and i just couldn't be the real princess peach without my gang (craig was out of town).
